Nearly three years into the pandemic, much of the world has reopened to travelers – and Asia isn't too far behind. In fact, almost all of the most popular destinations in Asia are welcoming back travelers from the U.S. and across the globe with few restrictions in place.
The latest improvement? Hong Kong, where the government is set to allow fully vaccinated visitors to roam the city freely. Travelers still have to test negative for COVID-19 within 24 hours of departure for Hong Kong and again after arrival – plus, masks are still required in most venues. But the ability to visit shops and restaurants more easily should put Hong Kong back on the list of many U.S. travelers.
Hong Kong joins a growing list of other countries that have made it easier to visit. None stands out more than Japan, which re-opened for international travel in October. But other countries including Cambodia, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand have all eased international travel requirements in recent months.
So whether your bucket list consists of lounging in the sun in the Maldives, eating at food stalls in the streets of Bangkok, fresh sushi in Tokyo, or hitting the beach in Bali, here's where you can – and can't – go today … and what you might need in order to get in.
These are the current entry rules and regulations in Asia, organized alphabetically by country.
