We just found some wide-open (and truly unprecedented) award availability to book the Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort and Spa for 90,000 Hilton points a night from April through October 2024! There are also a smattering of dates available in March 2024, but it's a free-for-all for the rest of spring into the fall.
While 90,000 points a night isn't cheap, that's as good as it gets for this high-end resort – and it's significantly cheaper than the Conrad Bora Bora Nui a few Polynesian islands away. Critically, that price point means you can also use a Hilton free night certificate … and this pricey property is a phenomenal way to use one, especially since it can be used any day of the week (as long as there is standard room award availability).
But it's amazing that you can use points to book this property, period – it's notoriously stingy with releasing standard award availability. In fact, it's been not just months but several years since we've seen a single date bookable with Hilton Honors points here. Considering a night at the Hilton Moorea typically costs $900 or more, it's a fantastic way to use Hilton points.
Plus, anyone with Hilton Honors Silver Status or higher can stretch their points even further thanks to Hilton's fifth night free on award bookings. That means a five-night stay would cost you 360,000 Hilton Honors points or 72,000 points per night. Tack on a free night certificate, and you could cover nearly a week in Moorea for next to nothing.
Unfortunately, points won't get you one of the iconic overwater villas at this property. Standard room awards book into a King Garden Guestroom, which still looks quite nice. But maybe you'll luck out with an upgrade through Hilton Diamond status, which you get automatically by holding the (recently revamped) Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card. Or maybe it's worth forking over some cash to upgrade for a night or two?
Thrifty Tip: Travelers with Hilton Diamond and Gold status (which all cardholders with *amex platinum* can unlock) get free breakfast for two every day – a huge money-saver at this pricey property.
You can transfer points to Hilton from American Express on a 1:2 basis, so 45,000 Amex points will net you 90,000 Hilton Honors points. But that’s rarely a good use of those points unless you simply need to top off your Hilton account for the last few thousand points to make a redemption a reality.
We haven't stayed at the Hilton Moorea ourselves, but it gets excellent reviews for the room, picturesque location, and great service. Its location is key: Unlike the exorbitantly expensive flights to other islands like Bora Bora or Rangiroa, Moorea is right next to the main island and airport of Tahiti (PPT) – just a short plane or ferry ride away.
That convenience doesn't make Moorea any less dreamy. It's got the crystal-blue waters and lush mountainous landscapes you're looking for in French Polynesia.
How to Book the Hilton Moorea
- You can now book standard room award availability at the Hilton Moorea most days from April 2024 through October 2024, as of publication.
- That means you can book free nights for 90,000 Hilton Honors points or apply free night certificates earned from certain Hilton credit cards.
- If you have Hilton Honors Silver status (or higher), you can book five consecutive nights and only pay for four – a 20% savings per night.
- Hilton Gold and Diamond status members will get free breakfast at the property during their stay.
