I have good news and bad news for Seattle American Express Centurion Lounge-goers. The good news is that Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) is getting an American Express Centurion Lounge that is twice the size of the current one. The bad news is they're losing the current lounge altogether for at least a few weeks.
According to a note to customers on the American Express website, the current Centurion Lounge in the B Concourse at SEA will close Sunday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. permanently.
The tiny 4,500-square-foot space will be missed until the new, much larger space on the upper level of the Central Terminal opens “in the coming weeks,” Amex said.
The new Seattle American Express Centurion Lounge – which was announced back in 2020 – will be 14,000 square feet, almost tripling the size of the current one.
Amex says the lounge will have an open-air feel with huge windows looking out over the tarmac and, on a clear day, the Olympic Mountains.
The new space will be a nice complement to Delta's excellent Seattle SkyClub and its planned second SkyClub in the A Concourse, too. The larger Centurion lounge could alleviate crowding in both spaces.
Getting Into Centurion Lounges
If you want to get into the Seattle Centurion Lounge when it re-opens, you’ll want one card in particular.
It’s The Platinum Card® from American Express. You can get into any Centurion Lounge with your boarding pass and Platinum card. Guests will cost $50 each starting Feb. 1. You can only get into Centurion lounges within three hours of your flight departing (unless you’re on a layover). The Business Platinum Card® from American Express will also get you in.
These cards are king when it comes to airport lounge access, as you can get into all of the Centurion Lounges, Escape Lounges, 1,400-plus Priority Pass locations, and even Delta Sky Clubs if you’re flying Delta that day. The card comes with a $695 annual fee (see rates & fees), but perks like lounge access and annual credits for airline fees, streaming services, and Uber rides can easily offset that.
Another option for SEA flyers is the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card. Delta recently added Centurion Lounge access to this card, although you have to be flying Delta that day to get in. You can’t bring guests to the Centurion club with the Reserve card.

Bottom Line
American Express is permanently closing its tiny Seattle Amex Centurion Lounge while its new, much bigger space is being finished. The credit card giant says the new lounge will be open “in the coming weeks.”
The new space will be almost triple the size of the current Centurion Lounge and will be a great complement to SEA's Delta SkyClubs.
