Starting on June 12th, the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card began to offer a $100 credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck as a benefit of holding the Capital One Venture Rewards credit card. This means you can charge either the $100 application fee for Global Entry or the $85 fee for TSA PreCheck to your card and be completely reimbursed for the application fee. This will work for both new and existing cardholders.

The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card
The Capital One Venture card has long been one of our favorite travel rewards credit cards that offers a simple way to redeem the miles for free travel. There is no need to transfer points or search for award availability. The card simply earns 2 miles per dollar spent on all purchases, and these miles can be redeemed as a statement credit against travel purchases. When you redeem the points, they will be worth a fixed value of 1 cent each. This means you are effectively getting 2% back on all purchases you make on the card.
Because of the way Capital One Venture miles work, they are some of our favorite points to use for travel expenses that can't be covered with typical points and miles programs. See our post on our 6 favorite ways to maximize your Capital One Venture miles. Further, see the card's full list of benefits below:
- Earn 75,000 miles after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of card membership ($750 towards travel)
- Earn 2X miles per dollar on every purchase. There is no cap to the number of miles you can earn each year.
- Up to a $100 credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck
- Fly on any airline or stay in any hotel with no blackout dates
- Capital One Venture Miles never expire
- The card does not charge foreign transaction fees
- $95 annual fee

Our Analysis
This is a solid addition to the Capital One Venture Rewards credit card. And since Global Entry includes TSA PreCheck it makes sense to apply for Global Entry in most situations.
Most of the other credit cards in the marketplace offering a rebate for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck have a much higher annual fee which gives a strong upper hand to Capital One. Further, the 75,000-mile sign-up bonus is a great way to save $750 on flight deals booked right here at Thrifty Traveler or at Thrifty Traveler Premium.
Bottom Line
Capital One has just made a strong play to compete with other credit cards charging a similar annual fee. Most notably the Chase Sapphire Preferred card which doesn't include a free Global Entry or TSA PreCheck benefit. This sign-up bonus alone on the Capital One Venture card is worth $750 towards travel, adding this new benefit can give you up to $850 in value.

Do you know if this is for current cardholders as well, or just new ones signing up after June 12? I literally just signed up last night (through thriftytraveler.com) and could use the TSA precheck benefit.
Should be available to all cardholders on June 12th as an added benefit of the card.
I just called them today (June 12th) and they didn’t know what I was talking about …
:S
Phone agents notoriously don’t have the most up to date information when new card benefits are rolled out. The news yesterday was from Capital One directly. Give it time as they didn’t say at what time today this would become available.
Just a quick update, the PreCheck or Global entry benefit is now listed on applications for the Venture card. Hopefully if you call them now, they will know what you are talking about.
Called yesterday again (literally like 3 hours later) and they knew everything then,
how frustrating, oh well!
I’m a cardholder, got the promo e-mail and the biggest thing is that you get this as a recurring benefit, once every four years! Mean’s you don’t have to pay when you re-up for Global entry in the future. I don’t think many other cards match that, do they?
Every card I am aware of that offers a TSA PreCheck/Global Entry benefit offers this as a reoccurring benefit every 4 years. This is par for the course when it comes to this benefit.
Is the TSA PreCheck/Global Entry benefit available for me and my spouse on the same VENTURE CARD
Hi Stephen, it isn’t. 1 credit per account. Authorized users will not receive this benefit on the Venture Card.
I’m an existing card holder. I called the number on the back of my CapiOne Travel Venture card and asked if they still had the TSA Precheck offer (a link in an email I received 6 months ago had expired). They said yes and I then ordered Global Entry as it includes TSA Precheck. Why not, it’s FREE! Thanks for reminding me Thrifty Traveler!
Enjoy Mark! You can take advantage of that credit ever 4 years on your Venture Card. It’s an awesome perk.
If my spouse and I share the same Venture account, are we both reimbursed the GE fee or just one of us? Love your site!
Hi Thomas! Only one reimbursement per account. But you are both eligible to have your own account, even if you’re an authorized user on the other’s account.
How is it reimbursed? I applied for Global Entry via Venture X and got approved. Do they reimburse in the next month?
Yes it should just show up as a statement credit within a few weeks.
